On the night of Saturday, the founders of the Rio Bravo Book Club gathered to discuss the principles of our savory club. Into this heady stew we threw many ideas, boiled some, strained others, and produced this thick, steaming broth:
- K is picking the first book, Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections.
- Someone who has not picked the book will begin the discussion with an opening question.
- We will discuss the book for approximately 40 minutes on the meeting night, longer if desired.
- A book selection should be a new book to the club, but the book chooser may recommend a book that he or she has already read.
- Only if there is universal contempt for the book, club-members may abandon the book.
